Move Past Survival. Reconnect with Yourself.
Sometimes it’s impossible to think your way out of stressful emotions and experiences…
When you go through a traumatic, overwhelming, or deeply distressing event, your brain doesn’t always process the experience the way it usually does. Instead of becoming a past memory, the incident can get "stuck" in your nervous system.
Years later, a sound, a feeling, or a stressful moment can trigger those same emotions, physical sensations, and beliefs—leaving you feeling like you are re-living the moment all over again.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain process those stuck memories, allowing you to heal without having to talk through every painful detail.
-
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with how your brain and body store memory and stress.
Using bilateral stimulation (typically rhythmic eye movements, gentle taps, or tones that alternate between the left and right sides of your body), EMDR stimulates your brain’s natural healing mechanism. This process helps the body release painful memories, reducing their emotional charge so they no longer control your present reactions or how you feel about yourself.
-
EMDR is widely known for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but it is equally effective for a wide range of experiences, including:
Single-Event Trauma (accidents, assaults, medical trauma)
Complex or Relational Trauma (childhood emotional neglect, abusive relationships)
Anxiety & Panic Attacks
Grief & Loss
Phobias & Performance Anxiety
Self-Esteem & Changing Negative Beliefs to more helpful beliefs such as:
"I am unsafe" → "I am safe now."
"It was my fault" → "I did the best I could."
"I am powerless" → "I have choices today."
-
Yes! Studies have shown that virtual EMDR is just as effective as EMDR conducted in-person.

History & Goal Setting: We explore what you’d like to work on and identify the memories or triggers holding you back.
Resourcing & Preparation: Before processing anything heavy, we teach you practical techniques to ground your body and calm your nervous system.
Reprocessing: Guided by your therapist, you focus on a target memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation until the memory no longer carries emotional distress.
Integration & Closure: We ensure you feel stable, centered, and grounded before you leave each session.

At One Collective, Naomi brings a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic lens to EMDR. Naomi recognizes that healing isn’t just cognitive; it deeply involves the mind, body, heart, and spirit.
You are in the driver's seat: We never rush into reprocessing. We prioritize building safety, coping resources, and a strong therapeutic connection first.
Integrative & Relational: We combine EMDR with somatic awareness and culturally grounded care so you feel supported every step of the way.
Paced for your safety: You remain grounded in the present moment throughout every session.
